Navam Perahera

Navam Perahera is held at Gangaramaya Temple, Colombo on the Navam full moon poya day of every year. The Perahera was first started in the year of 1979. This year the Perahera will be held on the 20th of February.

Duruthu Maha Perahera - Kelaniya

The annual Kelaniya Duruthu Maha Perahera will be held on the 22nd of this month to commemorate the visit of Load Buddha to Sri Lanka during the full moon poya day. This is a colorful grand procession which is only second to the Kandy Perahera started during the year 1927.This grand procession is filled with so many dancing troops, drummers, wip crackers, torch-bearers and colorfully dressed elephants as well.

The Kandy Perahera (pagent) held on the full moon poya day of August (Esala - in Sinhala month naming). This pagent is treated as one of the most magnificient colourfull pagent in the world. This spectacular pagent is held for 10 nights with colourfully dressed Kandian dancesrs, whip crackers, fire-dances etc. More than hundread elephants participate in this festivel
