DAY 01 : Airport / Negambo.

Arrival to Colombo International Airport and meet Golden Lanka Travels guide at the airport arrival lobby

Transfer from Airport to Negambo ( 15 Mints ).
Negambo is a coastal city in the West Coast of Sri Lanka. It is famous as a fishing hub .Thus so many traditional fisherman live in Negambo. It is a tourist attraction. The city is so live with the number of different restaurants, shops, pubs & hotels. The beach road is the ideal place for hanging out.
It is very well known for its unique statue of the Lord Buddha, and its dragon-entrance – inside you find detailed murals that date back centuries. There is also a 300+ year old ruin of a historic library here, covered in moss.

Transfer to St. Mary’s Church.
A historical piece of art with its uncontested religious heritage, the church has become an epic structure that one must visit.

Fishing Village
Being a coastal town, Negombo is housed to thousands of fisherman who actively take part in fishing on a daily basis. The excess catch is Being dried & preserved using indigenous technologies. One can visit the area where locals are busy with drying fish & packing them. Well the smell is a part of the experience.

DAY 02 : Negambo / Anuradhapura / Dambulla

Breakfast at Hotel.
Transfer from Negambo to Anuradhapura.( 3 Hrs )

Visit Anuradhapura the first capital of Sri Lanka which is a UNESCO world heritage city. Anuradhapura was once a very wealthy monastic city which created a unique culture and a great civilization. British explores discovered this lost city in 19th century. Visit many historical and archeological important places at Anuradhapura such as Sacred Bo-Tree (Sri Maha Bodhi), the right branch of the secret Bodhi tree where Buddha attained enlightenment and one of the oldest historical documented tree in the world, Ruwanweliseya which was built by King Dutugemunu (one of the most greatest stupas in the world). This magnificent huge Dagaba which is 103 meters in height and 287 meters in circumference was built in 2nd century B.C, the Brazen Palace (dated back to 2nd century B.C) a magnificent multi storied residence built for monks, Samadhi Stature (A stature in the position of deep meditation) which is the most famous stature at Anuradhapura and Isurumuniya which is the most famous beautiful rock carvings.

Transfer to Dambulla. ( 1.30 Hrs )

Dambulla Rock temple was built by King Walagambahu during the 1st Century B.C. The major attraction of Dambulla is the largest and best preserved cave temple complex which covers an area about 2,100 m². Dambulla is a UENESCO world heritage site. There are more than 80 documented caves in the surrounding and the paintings are done on the ceiling. There are a total of 153 Buddha statues 3 statues of srilnkn kings and 4 statues of god and goddess.

DAY 03 : Dambulla / Polonnaruwa / Sigiriya

Transfer from Dambulla to Polonnaruwa.

Visit Polonnaruwa the second capital of Sri Lanka from 1017 A.D to 1235 A.D. Polonnaruwa is also a UNESCO world heritage city. You will be able to see the ruins of Royal Palace king Parakramabahu, Audience Hall, the statue of king Parakramabahu, Watadage, the Galpotha, Parakrama Samudraya (Sea of Parakrama) which was built by King Parakramabahu I, covers an area of 5940 acres and the elegant Lotus pond was built in 12th century. There are also famous monument of worship such as the Gal Viharaya which has 4 magnificent carved Buddha statures, Kiri Vehera (the remains of a former Temple of the Tooth Relic) and Shiva Temple

Transfer from Polonnaruwa to Sigiriya

Climb the citadel of Sigiriya which was built in 5th century. Sigiriya is treated as one of the most remarkable creations in the world, built by King Kashyapa (477-495 AD). Path through the gardens along Stone stairways come to the Lion Gate. Only the rock carving and the brick structure is evident today of the lions mouth through which millions of people have walked to admire he beauty of this magnificent citadel.

Do a jeep safari in Minneriya National park. The park covers an area of 8,889 hectares giving home to 160 species of birds about 25 species of reptiles, 26 fish species,09 amphibians and more than 78 butterfly species. The park is ideal place for elephant and leopard watching.

DAY 04 : Dambulla / Matale / Kandy

Transfer from Dambulla to Matale Aluwiharaya.( 45 Mints ).

Founded during the reign of King Devanampiyatissa in the 3rd century BC, this temple has a very significant value on the preserving of Buddhism in the country.This is where the Thripitaka was made a written script.

Transfer from Dambulla to Matale.

Visit a spice garden in Matale to see different spices for which Sri Lanka is famous for. Clients will be able to see different spices and how some of these spices are grown and processed. Witness Cookery demonstrations as well.

DAY 05 : Explore Kandy

Explore Kandy ( Optional )

Situated 7 kilometers from the town of Pilimathalawa in Kandy district and surrounded by tea plantations and paddy fields, the historic Embekke Devalaya is an ancient shrine and a temple dedicated to lord Kataragama.

Built almost exclusively of stone in 1344 by the Gampola King Wickramabahu, situated on a hilltop, commanding views of the surrounding countryside. The architecture is Dravidian

Completed in 1344, but in a more traditional Sinhalese style. Situated on a top of a gray rock above the fertile highland green, it justifies its name: “the beauty spot on Lanka’s brow.”

DAY 06 : Kandy / Nuwara Eliya / Kataragama

Transfer to Seetha Amman Temple.

A temple for Lord Rama, Seetha Devi, Luxshmana and Hanuman built on the sides of the stream where Seetha Devi bathed. This is considered a prime location in the Ramayana Trail. Worshiped by many thousands of Hindu Devotees around the globe.

Transfer to Kiri Vehera Temple Kataragama

Kiri Vehera is an ancient stupa built by King Mahasena[1] and situated in Kataragama, Sri Lanka. It is 95 ft. in height with a circumference of 280 ft. This structure probably dates back to the 3rd century BC.

Proceed to Kataragama.

Kataragama is a pilgrimage town popular with Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim and indigenous Vedda communities of Sri Lanka and South India. The town has Ruhunu Maha Kataragama devalaya, a shrine dedicated to Skanda-Murukan also known as Kataragamadevio. Kataragama is situated in the Monaragala District of Uva province, Sri Lanka. It is situated 228 km ESE of Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. Although Kataragama was a small village in medieval times, today it is a fast developing township surrounded by jungle in the South Eastern region of Sri Lanka. It also houses the ancient Kiri Vehera Buddhist stupa. The town has a venerable history dating back to the last centuries of BCE. It also was the seat of government of many Sinhalese kings during the days of Rohana kingdom. Since the 1950’s the city has undergone many improvements with successive governments investing in public transportation, medical facilities, and business development and hotel services

DAY 07 : Kataragama / Galle / Colombo

Proceed to Galle.

Galle was a main port of Sri Lanka from 14th century. The first fort of Galle was built by Portuguese. Walk along the walls of the fort enjoy the magnificent view of the ocean and do not forget to watch the sun set which gives you an astonishing view from the walls of the Galle fort.

Transfer to Colombo through the Highway.

Visit Gangaramaya Temple (Optional)

What was once a swamp adjoining the famous Beira Lake, a landmark in the capital city, is today a vibrant complex comprising the Gangaramaya temple, the ‘seema malaka’ – an assembly hall for monks – in the picturesque Beira Lake and a vocational training institute. The temple has been in existence for over 120 years having being established by one of the most famous scholar monks, Venerable Hikkaduwa Sri Sumanagala Nayaka Thera,

City tour of Colombo.

In the afternoon, do a city tour of Colombo. Colombo is the commercial and business center of Sri Lanka located on west cost. The city blends together with old colonial type building, high-rise commercial buildings and hotels. It is filled with shopping malls. Some of the finest structures built during the colonial times still preserved in one part of the City. For example, there is a 100-year-old clock tower. And the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) which was a gift to Sri Lanka from the People’s Republic of China.
