DAY 01 : Airport / Colombo.

Arrival to Colombo International Airport and meet Golden Lanka Travels guide at the airport arrival lobby.

Transfer to Colombo.
City tour of Colombo.

In the afternoon, do a city tour of Colombo. Colombo is the commercial and business center of Sri Lanka located on west cost. The city blends together with old colonial type building, high-rise commercial buildings and hotels. It is filled with shopping malls. Some of the finest structures built during the colonial times still preserved in one part of the City. For example, there is a 100-year-old clock tower. And the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) which was a gift to Sri Lanka from the People’s Republic of China.

Visit Gangaramaya Temple (Optional)

What was once a swamp adjoining the famous Beira Lake, a landmark in the capital city, is today a vibrant complex comprising the Gangaramaya temple, the ‘seema malaka’ – an assembly hall for monks – in the picturesque Beira Lake and a vocational training institute. The temple has been in existence for over 120 years having being established by one of the most famous scholar monks, Venerable Hikkaduwa Sri Sumanagala Nayaka Thera,

DAY 02 : Colombo / Pinnawala / Sigiriya / Dambulla

Those who want to see the tamed and semi wiled elephants in close proximity the best place is the “Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage”. It is located northwest of Kegalle town along the Colombo ~ Kandy main road. The orphanage is in a twenty five acre coconut land near Maha Oya. The wide area of shallow water and the huge rocks of Maha Oya make the ideal place to these magnificent animals. This facility was established in year 1975 as a conservation breading center for Elephants by Sri Lanka Wildlife department. It was started with a heard of five baby Elephants. Transfer from Pinnawala to Sigiriya.

Climb the citadel of Sigiriya which was built in 5th century. Sigiriya is treated as one of the most remarkable creations in the world, built by King Kashyapa (477-495 AD). Path through the gardens along Stone stairways come to the Lion Gate. Only the rock carving and the brick structure is evident today of the lions mouth through which millions of people have walked to admire he beauty of this magnificent citadel.

DAY 03 : Dambulla / Polonnaruwa / Dambulla

Transfer from Sigiriya to Polonnaruwa.
Explore Polonnaruwa by Cycle.

Visit Polonnaruwa the second capital of Sri Lanka from 1017 A.D to 1235 A.D. Polonnaruwa is also a UNESCO world heritage city. You will be able to see the ruins of Royal Palace king Parakramabahu, Audience Hall, the statue of king Parakramabahu, Watadage, the Galpotha, Parakrama Samudraya (Sea of Parakrama) which was built by King Parakramabahu I, covers an area of 5940 acres and the elegant Lotus pond was built in 12th century. DAY 04 : Dambulla / Kaludiya Pokuna / Dambulla

A must see site in the ancient cultural triangle area. Name has been given due to the unusual darkness the water body holds giving it a complete dark look.

Transfer from Kaludiya Pokuna to Dambulla.

Dambulla Rock temple was built by King Walagambahu during the 1st Century B.C. The major attraction of Dambulla is the largest and best preserved cave temple complex which covers an area about 2,100 m². Dambulla is a UENESCO world heritage site. There are more than 80 documented caves in the surrounding and the paintings are done on the ceiling. There are a total of 153 Buddha statues 3 statues of Srilankan kings and 4 statues of god and goddess.

DAY 05 : Dambulla / Matale / Kandy

Spice Garden

Visit a spice garden in Matale to see different spices for which Sri Lanka is famous for. Clients will be able to see different spices and how some of these spices are grown and processed. Witness Cookery demonstrations as well.

Kandy was the last capital of Sinhala Kings. The valley of Kandy is surrounded by magnificent hills which made it as the last bastion. Today Kandy offers its visitors rich collection of art and craft and historical buildings. It includes a collection of ancient temples buildings, handicrafts, souvenirs, bazaar and gem museum and the temple of tooth relic which houses the most sacred Buddhist relic in the world, the Tooth of Lord Buddha. Visit the Kandy town and bazaar, the arts and crafts centre, a gem museum and a lapidary.

DAY 06 : Kandy / Ramboda / Nuwara Eliya.

Transfer to Kandy to Ramboda
Visit the Famous Ramboda Falls.

Ramboda is a breathtaking natural beauty. There are two prominent waterfalls next to each other. Clients could take pictures & enjoy the view from a view deck.

Transfer to Nuwara Eliya.

Nuwara Eliya is located at the heart of the hill country 6182 feet above from the sea level. The town is situated at 74 km away along Kandy-Nuwara Eliya road and this was rediscovered by British in 1827. It is still very much like an old English town with styled Bungalows and buildings.

The cool calm climate, gorges rolling tea plantation which makes the best “Ceylon tea” and the breathtaking beautiful waterfalls makes Nuwara Eliya one of the most beautiful town in the world. Nuwara Eliya also has one of the finest 18 hole golf courses in South Asia. You can visit the Golf Club, Strawberry Farms & pick some strawberries.You can take a nice evening walk around the Gregory Lake. Transfer to Seetha Amman Temple.

A temple for Lord Rama, Seetha Devi, Luxshmana and Hanuman built on the sides of the stream where Seetha Devi bathed. This is considered a prime location in the Ramayana Trail. Worshiped by many thousands of Hindu Devotees around the globe.

DAY 07 : Nuwara Eliya / Adams Peak.

Transfer from Nuwara Eliya to Adams Peak.

The mountain is located in the southern reaches of the Central Highlands. It is revered as a holy site by Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims and Christians. It has specific qualities that cause it to stand out and be noticed; including its dominant and outstanding profile, and the boulder at the peak that contains an indentation resembling a footprint.

Start climbing around 01.30 hrs.Reach the peak by early morning. Wait till the amazing sunrise in the morning. Climb down the peak.

DAY 08 : Adams Peak / Yala

DAY 09 : Yala / Galle / Bentota

Still Fishing – Weligama

Still fishing is one of the most iconic scenes in Sri Lanka. It is a very unique traditional way of fishing for Sri Lankan fishing community. The fisherman spends hours sitting on a thin plank waiting for a good catch.

Transfer from Weligama to Galle.

Galle was a main port of Sri Lanka from 14th century. The first fort of Galle was built by Portuguese. Walk along the walls of the fort enjoy the magnificent view of the ocean and do not forget to watch the sun set which gives you an astonishing view from the walls of the Galle fort.

Transfer from Weligama to Bentota.
Proceed to Bentota.

A Sri Lankan coastal city famous for golden beaches, Bentota is situated on the southern coastal tip of the Galle District of the Southern Province. The town is a popular tourist attraction and also a favorite destination for watersports. It is especially famous among the foreign tourists. The name comes from a mythical story which dates back to kings time saying a demon called Bam ruled this river ( total = river bank. Bentota hosts a handful of world proclaimed hotels. Bentota also delivers an ancient art of healing called Ayurveda. Bentota is also famous for its production in Toddy. An alcoholic beverage made out of coconut nectar. DAY 10 : Bentota / Balapitiya / Bentota

The Madu Ganga River is a shallow water body in south-west Sri Lanka, which enters the sea at Balapitiya. Together with the smaller Randombe Lake, to which it is connected by two narrow channels, it forms the Madu Ganga wetland. Its estuary and the many mangrove islets on it constitute a complex coastal wetland ecosystem. In has high ecological, biological and aesthetic significance.
